6570. It was been at least 6570 days, I don’t remember the exact date or I would give you an exact number. I had been alive over 18 years before I ever heard anyone say I couldn’t achieve a goal. It was unheard of to me. Okay, I had people try to bring me down before but never someone I respected. So there I was, stunned, 18, in the Navy and having been told I couldn’t cut it. Well he was wrong. I put my mind to it and reached my goal within a year and never looked back. Well, I did, but only for a sec.

And that is how life is sometimes. Now, I have an awesome, super supportive wife, two amazing kids and literally living a dream. How many people can say that. We have people calling us, emailing us and emailing friends to get us to help them.

  • I will tell you that I am quite odd. I love being an elected official (School Board Member) but hate politics.
  • I read wikipedia. It is like crack to me!
  • I read books for fun, it really is time for a Kindle.
  • I really like Alfred Hitchcock movies but have no real love for other “classics”
  • And I am a Mac guy, no doubt about it. Chucked my last Dell in 2006 and life has never been sweeter.

I will say that experiences in Fortune 500 companies, GE, Safeway, UBS really helped me understand what I don’t want out of life. Time in the Navy helped me understand that commitment, focus and execution lead to success, 100% of the time. And that one should treasure people that support them and leave the naysayers to their own misery.

We formed Make Them Fans for two reasons. We believe with a little focused effort every business can be outstanding. Second, we believe that true marketing come from giving and letting the goodness come back to you. With that in mind, we knew social media was the key to making our client’s business and live’s SRS! Lamar & I have always said that we are very opposite on most fronts, and here again, I can say it once more. I never had anyone telling me that I couldn’t do something, however I never had anyone telling me that I could do anything either. I never realized what an impact that would have on my life.
I grew up in a small southern town where a majority of the population had an older mindset. You weren’t expected to do anything “different”. After going through the motions that I was raised with, I met the man of my dreams and had a “world wind romance”, got married and had children. That was what I was supposed to do! Once we moved the family to California, all of what “I was supposed to do” was thrown out the window. It was a whole new world outside of my small town in South Carolina. I learned that I could be more than a wife and mother! I could further my education and do new things. Telling myself that I can do anything has became a philosophy. Some of the things that make me “me” are:

  • I thrive on chaos! I love being busy and always being involved in something.
  • I love frogs and all the little weirdness that surrounds them.
  • I love art (oil paintings especially), but have never painted anything of my own.
  • I love karma, deja vu, friday the 13th (not the movies, the acts) and most anything that normal society finds strange.
  • I love shoes, however I seemed to have lost a few in the move…???
  • I have a southern accent, but do not think that I possess many southern traits (well…I do say Ya’ll and eat boiled peanuts).
  • And, I love for every room in my home to be a different color, just for fun!

On a business front, I have been using social media to connect and market since before we really had a name for social media. It has became just one of those things I do, so why not help others in the process?  Through one of my other businesses, “My Friend Angie” I helps busy business women create guilt free free-time.  My practical strategies and time saving tactics are easy to implement and create tidal waves of goodness. I have a soft spot in my heart for fabulous women & fun small business owners! I love to work my mojo!
